Buzz Lightyear is the coolest children's toy to ever hit the shelves. Equipped with an electronic voice, laser beam and retractable wings, Buzz Lightyear is every child's dream. When Buzz arrived on Andy's bed following his birthday, Buzz thought he had landed on a strange new planet. Convinced he was still in mortal danger from the evil Emperor Zurg, and determined to repair his spaceship to return to Star Command, Buzz was an instant hit with the rest of the toys, especially Rex the Dinosaur - except one. Buzz got up the nose of Woody from the very start, to the point where Woody in a rage accidentally knocked Buzz out of the window. Feeling guilty and ashamed, Woody goes to Buzz's rescue, but along the way helps Buzz to realise that Star Command is just a fantasy created to give every little boy a world to interact with, giving them happy childhood memories. Buzz hits rock bottom upon the realisation that he just a toy, but with the ever guilty Woody at his side, he overcomes his disappointment, and takes upon himself to engage in a new mission - to be Andy's second best friend, after Woody. Buzz was designed as the ultimate hero for a fictional world, and when faced with reality he thought it was the end. But with courage and determination, Buzz showed that he really is a true hero - Andy's hero, and maybe Rex's, too.
