Eric is the dashing young Danish Prince who has a castle by the sea. With his faithful dog Max by his side, they go on sailing adventures together. One night when his ship gets in trouble he is saved by a mysterious young woman, who sings to him while he lays unconscious. Eric becomes obsessed in finding the girl. When he finds a mute girl washed up on the shore, he takes her in. He finds her strangely familiar, but due to her lack of voice, does not believe she is his mystery rescuer. Gradually they fall in love, but just as they get closer, Eric is put under a spell by Ursula, and almost gets tricked into marrying her. Following a series of events led by various friends of Ariel, the spell is broken and Eric realises who Ariel is. Growing to gargantuan proportions, the evil Ursula causes a rage upon the seas, but the fearless and brave young prince charges her with a ship, and sends her plunging to the bottom of the ocean. Eric proves himself to be a truly worthy husband for the daughter of the King of the Oceans; kind natured and brave, Eric is a true hero.
