Hello everyone,
At the end of February we were fortunate enough to attend a special event at the Magic Kingdom held for DVC Members. Moonlight Magic was held on two separate nights from 10pm until 1am. Tickets were free for DVC members and up to five of their guests, however, you needed to book it in advance, and spaces were limited.
Like any special ticketed event, you had to have a wrist band. We collected ours in Tomorrowland earlier in the evening, and used the event map to plan our strategy!
During the evening there was a variety of special offerings, including a a Try Everything Dance Party, which featured Mickey, Minnie, Nick Wilde and Judy Hopps, character greetings, Moonlight Magic fireworks, complimentary snacks and drinks, and of course the opportunity to ride some of your favourite Disney attractions.
Since the event was only three hours, it was impossible to get around to everything, as much as we tried. Our entire evening was spent at the character greetings, except for a few minutes to stop and watch the fireworks. Characters appearing during the event included: Goofy, Wendell, Big Al, Genie, Abu, Terk, Timon, Dr. Facilier, Bowler Hat Guy, Chicken Little, Abby Mallard, Clarice, Max Goof, Darkwing Duck, Pinocchio, Gideon, Foulfellow, Cinderella, Prince Charming, Elena, Ariel, Prince Eric, Belle, Beast, Rapunzel and Flynn Rider. Plus of course, as I mentioned above, there were the four characters at the dance party, and outside the Haunted Mansion, on the lawn, was one of the resident ghosts.
Let's take a look at some of my photos from the characters we met.
While we didn't stop to see the entire display, the Moonlight Magic fireworks were really spectacular, and amongst the best fireworks I have seen at the Magic Kingdom (which is odd since this was a free event).
Over all, despite not being able to meet every character, we had a blast. For a free event that was only three hours long, it was very well organised, and there was plenty to do. As character fans, the character selection was really very good, and the lines weren't too bad. The park itself wasn't very busy, and I feel that this is how I really want the Christmas and Halloween parties to be, but sadly we know that'll never happen. My only complaint of the night is that the complimentary hot food was chicken nuggets and hot dogs, which was really not very vegetarian or dietary requirement friendly. They had snacks too, such as cookies and apple slices, but if you wanted hot food, you were out of luck.
I'll leave you with some photos of the fireworks.
Have a great day everyone,
Dan. |
