Hello everyone,
A couple of weeks ago we had lunch at The Garden Grill, inside The Land pavilion at Epcot. We had eaten there several times in the past, but it had been several years, so we thought it was time that we went back to get an updated view.
The Garden Grill is a character dining experience, which has its own title of Chip 'n' Dale's Harvest Feast. Throughout your dining experience, Chip and Dale, as well as Mickey Mouse and Pluto, make their way around the restaurant for hugs, photos and autographs. Prices can be up to $60 per adult, depending on the time of day, plus tax and tip. You should plan to be in the restaurant for at least an hour. Reservations are accepted, and can be made on the My Disney Experience app.
So, let's start with the food. As I have said many times here on the blog, we are vegetarian, and often it is difficult to find decent vegetarian options for us at the parks. I was pleasantly surprised with the offerings at The Garden Grill, and would definitely go back, and recommend it to others. The food is served, what Disney call, "family style", which means there is a large platter with a variety of things on it that you all take from. For the non-meat eaters, they didn't just leave the meat off of the plate (which is what often happens - and we still pay the same price!), but in fact there was a really good vegetarian meat substitute. I'll admit, I am not 100% sure what it was, but it tasted nice, and I would have it again. The other items included salad, rolls and butter, macaroni cheese (which had goldfish on, oddly enough), fries, corn, rice, cranberry sauce, and mashed potato. Our carnivore friends received the same as us, except they had the meat and not the substitute. The meat included beef, stuffing, sausage, and turkey. For dessert we received a short cake topped with fruit compote and whipped cream, to share.
Let's take a look at the food, before we move on to the characters.
Mickey Mouse wears special farmer clothes while in attendance at the restaurant, and Pluto has a different collar. Sadly Chip and Dale do not have any special clothing items, even though it's billed as being their meal! We had a lot of fun with the characters. The restaurant wasn't very busy on the day of our visit, and so they had a little more time to play.
One final note, and that is that in case you didn't realise, the restaurant actually rotates 360 degrees while you dine, and gives you a view into the Living with the Land attraction, also housed within the pavilion.
