DisneyDan  Wednesday, June 23, 2021 12:09:01 PM
Hello everyone,

Today is a special day as we are at exactly 100 days until Walt Disney World Resort in Florida turns 50!

To kick off the 100 day countdown, I wanted to share with you a small selection of our photos from probably one of the most beloved - and most missed entertainment offerings - from not just Magic Kingdom, but all of WDW over the years, SpectroMagic.

Previously here on the blog I shared with you all some of the Halloween offerings currently at Magic Kingdom (Mickey and Friends here, and the Disney Villains here).

Today I am sharing some photos of Winnie the Pooh and his 100 Acre Wood friends who are appearing dressed in their Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party costumes.

You can catch Pooh, Eeyore, Piglet and Tigger throughout the day travelling up and down Main Street USA on the horse-drawn trolley. Occasionally, you may also find them   [ Read More... ]

A Socially Distanced Halloween at the Magic Kingdom, Part One - Mickey and Friends
DisneyDan  Thursday, September 24, 2020 11:57:46 AM
Hello everyone,

Things look a little different this year for Halloween season at Walt Disney World. We have seen the cancellation of Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party, along with drastically reduced operations across Walt Disney World. Gone are the days of visiting the hotel resorts to see the pumpkins and decor, and meeting characters on Halloween night at all the hotels; shelved is the Headless Horseman 5K at Fort Wilderness, and the Headless Horseman movie night event (also at Fort Wilderness); we've even lost those awful pumpkin-scarecrows that used to haunt us every year on Main Street! We've lost a lot of really cool things due to this ongoing pandemic, but there was one small bright spark of light to come out of it all. Now, during regular daily operations at the Magic Kingdom, we can see some of our favourite Disney characters in various spooky Halloween offerings. These offerings include a Mickey and friends cavalcade, a Pooh and friends trolley, a Nightmare Before Christmas cavalcade, a Villains cavalcade, the Cadaver Dans, and various greetings (Main Street Station, Rivers of America, and the Crystal Palace).

I thought I would make a few blog posts to share with you the Halloween spirit that has overtaken the Magic Kingdom, starting here with Mickey and friends. You can see Mickey and his pals intermittently throughout the day either up on Main Street Station, waving to guests below and posing for selfies, or riding through the park in a festive cavalcade. Mickey and his pals are joined by the Sugar Rush Racers from Wreck-It-Ralph, some pirates, Haunted Mansion ballroom dancers, and some Haunted Mansion gravediggers.

So, without any further commentary, here's a selection of   [ Read More... ]
Random Disney Friends Visit Town Square at the Magic Kingdom
DisneyDan  Friday, January 25, 2019 11:14:25 AM
Hello everyone,

Last week I talked about the (then) upcoming surprise character appearances at the Magic Kingdom as part of Mickey and Minnie's Surprise Celebration (for their 90th birthdays).

Well, last Friday saw the first day of the daily fun at the Flagpole in Town Square, and I was there everyday to see who came out! From what I understand from talking to cast members who were there everyday, these characters will remain the same for the foreseeable future, and even possibly until the end of the celebration in September. The days may change later on, just to make it fair to people who can't come on specific days of the week (because of work or school, etc), but the characters are likely to remain the same. Indeed, today, Nick and Judy are back in Town Square, as they were last Friday. Of course, as always with Disney, anything is subject to change at any moment, so we shall see what happens in a couple of weeks from now.

The characters that are a part of this new offering, so far at least, are: Nick Wilde and Judy Hopps (Zootopia), Phineas and Ferb (from their namesake TV show), Robin Hood, Little John, Friar Tuck and Prince John (Robin Hood), Chicken Little and Abby Mallard (Chicken Little), Remy and Emile (Ratatouille), and Gideon and J. Worthington Foulfellow (Pinocchio).

Important! - At time of writing, the characters begin at around 11.30am (usually with a slight delay), and end around 2.30pm, daily. It should be noted that the park schedule and/or the WDW app has been listing characters off and on as being in Town Sq until around 4.45pm. We found this to not be entirely true, and when they did appear after 3pm, they would just walk around and NOT stop for photos.

Let's take a look at some of the   [ Read More... ]
Random Character Appearances at Magic Kingdom - Speculation
DisneyDan  Thursday, January 17, 2019 7:06:43 AM
Hello everyone,

From tomorrow the Walt Disney World Resort begins their Mickey 90th Birthday celebrations, which means that there are some character changes around the resort, particularly at the Magic Kingdom. Since the official WDW website states there'll be "surprise character visits", a lot of sites have already reported that there will be a sort of "random-rotating" schedule of characters that will replace Chip, Dale and Pluto at the flagpole in Town Square, since Pluto is moving to the Silly Sideshow, and Chip and Dale will be in the new street party.

I have my own speculation as to what we can expect to see at these new character appearances, and thought it would be fun to share with you all here.

I'll start by stating quite clearly that this is
purely my speculation. Some of you may already know otherwise, some of you may agree, some may not. It's just for fun, but   [ Read More... ]
The Incredible Tomorrowland Expo, Summer 2018 - A Report
DisneyDan  Thursday, June 21, 2018 9:36:59 AM
Hello everyone,

Recently I shared with you the amazing recent additions to Disney's Animal Kingdom that you can experience this summer, and today I would like to share with you the Incredible Tomorrowland Expo, now featuring at the Magic Kingdom.

The Incredible Tomorrowland Expo is based on the idea of a convention (or "expo"), except, this one is for superheroes.

First of all, let's take a look at some of the decor around Tomorrowland.

Christmas in the Magic Kingdom - A December 2017 Photo Report
DisneyDan  Tuesday, March 20, 2018 9:18:05 AM
Hello everyone,

It's supposed to be the first day of spring, but of course as these things go, it's snowing here in the mid-Atlantic region, so I thought I would share with you some photos from this past winter's festivities at the Magic Kingdom (December 2017). I won't share everything we did at the Magic Kingdom, because it's fairly standard otherwise, but I thought the holidays would be a fun theme for this frigid first day of spring!

DVC Moonlight Magic, January 2018 - A Photo Report
DisneyDan  Friday, March 9, 2018 11:12:02 AM
Hello everyone,

Over three weekends in January and February DVC held another special Moonlight Magic event at the Magic Kingdom. I thought you would all like to see some photos from the characters we met at the event. The three hour event included some awesome long lost pals such as Little John, Koda and Kenai, the hyenas, and Herbie, plus more regular characters in special costumes, such as Chip 'n' Dale in their Rescue Ranger gear, Tiana and Naveen in their Royal Friendship Faire outfits, Donald and Daisy dressed for the Wild West, and Goofy and Pluto in their Mission Space suits.

Let's take a look!
