Hello everyone,
Today we are pleased to announce the exciting news that Oswald the Lucky Rabbit finally made his official Disney Parks debut at Tokyo DisneySea in Japan! Greeting fans at a special location in American Waterfront at the park, he has been received with instant love from the entire Disney community, and a sense of completeness now that he has taken his rightful place in the Disney family.
Although we personally could not be there at his debut, many fan pages and accounts are posting pictures across the internet, and it's almost impossible not to find good photos of him! The Disney Parks Blog even posted about his debut, and shared this photo, which I have inserted below.

Jon and I will be at Tokyo Disney Resort in less than 8 weeks time, and intend to be at park opening to meet him on our first day at the resort!
Over at Disneyland in California, another very rare rabbit appeared this week for the Springtime Roundup at Big Thunder Ranch - Roger Rabbit! Having been part of the Bunny Hop on Main Street last year, Roger now joins the new festivities at the Ranch, greeting guests for some Easter fun. We understand that he is expected to appear daily until the Springtime Roundup ends on April 20th, but of course that is subject to change at any time. Character Central forum member Dan-Tasmic! posted some photos of Roger greeting just yesterday, in our Springtime Roundup topic, here on the forum.

Hello everyone,
Today's news is all about some great events coming to Tokyo Disney Resort in 2014!
A couple of weeks ago, Oriental Land Company released a press statement announcing the Easter and Spring events for 2014.
The complete press release can be read in English on the official TDR website, here.
A summary of everything regardning Easter/Spring is as follows:
- The event will run from April 2nd through to June 23rd inclusive.
- At Tokyo Disneyland there will be a brand new theme for Easter, titled "Easter Garden", complete with a new parade, and interactive activities such as Easter Egg hunts.
- Mickey and Duffy's Spring Voyage will return at Tokyo DisneySea, apparently the same as - or at least very similar to - this year (2013).
The actual press release has more information about further events throughout 2014, right up until Christmas, but for the most part they seem the same as this year, and of course, anything can change between now and next Christmas!
It's really great to see the return of the Easter parade to Tokyo Disneyland, as, as the press release points out, it was missing this year, and was always a staple of the Spring events in the park.
The next thing is Sweet Duffy, but that was announced in Japanese only, on the official Tokyo Disney Resort Blog, which can be found here.
Using Chrome's in-built translator, here's everything I could figure out!
- The event will run from January 6th until March 20th inclusive.
- The incredibly popular 'My Friend Duffy' at American Waterfront will present a brand new version. As far as I could work out, the current My Friend Duffy will end on January 5th to make way for the new version. The new version, although being launched as part of Sweet Duffy, will remain permanently.
- Everything else on the list looked like it was either smaller activities or photo-op based things, merchandise or sweet treats to me. As far as I could tell, there were no special greetings, parades or other shows, besides the new version of My Friend Duffy. There was, for example, mention of a new limited time show-stop for the day parade at TDL, but it sounded like it would just be a lot of clapping! (really, that's what it says!)
So, that's everything up until the start of summer, at least. Like I said above, there were some details about later in the year, but we can discuss those at a later date, once more information becomes available.

Hello everyone,
Yesterday Oriental Land Company, the operating company behind Tokyo Disney Resort, released a press statement that revealed some changes to the entertainment line-up at the Resort from next year.
At Tokyo DisneySea, the long running Legend of Mythica will end on September 14th 2014. This seems a long way off, and no replacement has been announced for the epic harbour spectacular, but with over a year until its last performance, there is a lot of time for OLC to announce something new.
It is a very popular show, but by the time its last performance rolls around, it will have been at the park for over eight years, which is especially long for a Tokyo production (entertainment in TDR tends to change fairly frequently compared to the other Disney Parks. A maximum of about four years isn't uncommon).
Also in TDS, in Mermaid Lagoon, the Little Mermaid show will be given a compete overhaul, and will feature some new technology such as digital displays. Although the press release mentions characters such as Sebastian, Flounder and King Triton, it is not known whether they will be actual characters, or just digital versions or puppets.
The current show will have its final performance on 6th April 2014, and will be closed for about a year (no definite opening date announced yet - just 'spring 2015').
Finally for TDR, although not character related, OLC also announced that a new night time projection show would be coming to Tokyo Disneyland's Cinderella Castle. The press release talks about projection mapping technology to bring it all to life, which is what the ridiculously popular Disney Dreams! at Disneyland Paris uses - they even used a picture of DLP's Sleeping Beauty Castle in the release to illustrate their intention. Hopefully they won't lift directly from Dreams though, and instead have their own show. Disney Dreams! is a truly awesome show in every respect, and it really belongs uniquely at DLP.
Over in California, the DCA Today Facebook page yesterday announced (rather suddenly) that Dancin' with Disney is reopened at Hollywood Land.
There is no word as to which characters are appearing, but I will keep my eye out, and post on the Blog as soon as I hear anything.

Planning a trip to Disney can be exciting, rewarding and indeed frustrating - and that's just to the US Parks! Now consider this, you find yourself wanting to visit Tokyo Disney Resort. Sounds exotic, right? Land of the Rising Sun, the Far East. Fortunately for you, Jon and I will be going for the third time this spring, and we are quite familiar now with the bizarre and even infuriating systems and hoops you have to jump through to get a trip organised. Hotels, tickets and dining reservations are not as easy as the US and DLP to arrange, and take some concentration and forward thinking.

Hi all,
Today is the 11th anniversary of the grand opening of Disney's second Asian Park, Tokyo DisneySea.
Filled with unique attractions and experiences, DisneySea is often named the best theme park in the world. From the erupting Mount Prometheus, deep under the sea with Ariel, exploring lost jungles and wandering through the big city, DisneySea is simply spectacular.
Let's celebrate in Character Central's usual way with some pictures of our visits there.

Hi all, The last couple of days saw the official launch of the brand new version of Fantasmic! at Tokyo DisneySea. It has had mixed reactions so far apparently, but does include some cool sequences. And of course much to my approval it has Stitch and Angel in it! I found this video here, but there are probably a lot more now if you search. Staying with DisneySea, I also found some pictures of the "new" (at least within the last couple of months) meet 'n' greet trails at the Lost River Delta. These are the first images I have actually seen of the new area, and I have to say it looks really neat! This Flickr user has some pictures on her stream here. This Flickr user has some pictures of a new show that replaced Over the Waves. A Table is Waiting looks just as bizarre as it's predecessor but has some interesting outfits including Chip and Dale with moustaches! Jumping over to Florida, and last week you may recall me praising WDW for actually have some themed characters in the Easter pre-parade such as Chicken Little and Clara Cluck, well today I found this picture of a brand new Azalea Trail Maid Daisy Duck! Well done Magic Kingdom for actually doing something cool for a change!! Also in Florida, Jon posted some information to the forum about Jake and Izzy from Jake and the Neverland Pirates. Be sure to check it out! Finally, I heard today that from June Disney's Stars 'n' Cars at the Walt Disney Studios will no longer perform the show section, but instead will run as a proper parade right across the park! I did also hear that Angel and Mike would join the parade with their respective friends, and that there would be some form of smaller show stop more akin to the regular parade show stops from other parks. How true these last two things are I don't yet know. Jon and I have been working hard as always to get our latest trip pics up on the site, and these can be found by clicking the Flickr thumbnails to the bottom right. I have also been trying to update more character and location pages with more current information, and also added five new characters yesterday. Ok, that's all for now.

Hi all,
It has come to our attention that there has been a random previously unannounced happening in Tokyo Disneyland that has been taking place the last couple of days in Fantasyland. It is called Donald’s Funny Harmony, and it involves the Fab 5 friends in some cute outfits – including a Sorcerer Donald! Although there is no other information on the website about this event, the fact it is in Fantasyland outside the new PhilharMagic attraction that is due to open tomorrow, and has Donald wearing Yensid’s hat, one can only assume that it is some sort of pre-grand-opening event. There is no word as to how long this will remain in the park, but appears to be on the schedules for the next few days at least.
We have heard reports that for some reason there have been a lot of other random character happenings in Tokyo this week, from Frontierland hoedowns with Woody, Bullseye and even Bo Peep (!), to the Alice characters and Ariel and Eric in Fantasyland. DisneySea also has had similar random happenings too, including one that was somewhat musical and involved characters and the park’s resident band.
