Hello everyone,
Two weeks ago Jon and I were in DLP, and I put together a photo trip report which you can read here. Last weekend we were at DLP again! So, here's another photo report from our three days in the magic!
Let's start at Disneyland Park.
We watched the parade three times this weekend. It was windy two of the days which meant Mickey was down on lower part of his float, meaning Duffy wasn't in the parade. This happens fairly frequently at DLP, but safety first, of course!
We managed to see Dreams this trip too, something that we didn't do two weeks ago due to a combination of factors. As always, it was spectacular.
The Castle Fountain Show is currently playing seven times per evening throughout the summer, so we stood and watched that a few times. It only lasts about 2 minutes, but it's always nice to see the fountains dancing and changing colours. It adds to the magic and atmosphere around the Castle. I don't have many good photos as I wanted to video it, which I did.
We watched La Fanfare Disney band and The Dixieland band a couple of times, too. I always love stopping to watch the live entertainment.
Along similar lines, we caught the Main Street Welcome show as well, which again adds to the atmosphere of Main Street USA.
Main Street always features the Main Street Vehicles of course, but this trip we saw a lot more out than usual. The Omnibus, the Horse-Drawn Streetcar, the Limousine and the Fire Truck were all in operation. Additionally, the Yellow Car was in front of the Emporium during the day before the parade, and the Coca-Cola truck was open and parked on Flower Street. In fact, the only vehicle I didn't see this weekend was the Paddy Wagon. Similarly, it was a busy weekend, and three of the four railroad trains were running; the C K Holliday, the Eureka and the George Washington. The only one I didn't see running was the W F Cody.
One evening we ate at the Lucky Nugget in Frontierland, where the Lucky Nugget Orchestra were playing as usual. We discovered there was a veggie burger here, even though it's not on the menu, so we of course had to try it! It was actually really nice! I love the Lucky Nugget, it's one of my favourite buildings at Disneyland Park. The detailing inside is incredible, and coupled with the live band and good food, it's truly great.
Also in Frontierland we went back to Fuente del Oro after last trip, you may recall, we discovered that they had also recently added a vegetarian option, as well as for the first time at DLP (to my knowledge) full sized Mickey waffles! We didn't have chance last trip to try the waffle, so we had to go back this time!
Walt's - An American Restaurant is situated above Lilly's Boutique on Main Street USA, and is somewhere that we'd previously eaten at once, about five years ago. We decided it was about time we visited again, and so one evening for dinner we dined there. We both had the vegetarian option, which was spinach ravioli. It was ok, nothing spectacular, but fine nonetheless. What you really pay for with Walt's is the fantastic theming and atmosphere. It's filled with artwork and treasures from Disneyland Paris, and features a lot of photos of Walt.
Attractions aren't something we usually spend too much time with, but this trip we did decide to do a few more than we usually do. We took a trip around the Rivers of the Far West on the Molly Brown, we rode Peter Pan's Flight, the Orbitron, Phantom Manor and Pirates of the Caribbean.
Characters this trip were varied and different, which is something that in the past DLP had been really known for. More recently though, characters had become very standard and set. However, just lately things have been mixed up a bit more again, and this weekend we saw a good number of cool characters around the park in some random places, including Friar Tuck in Frontierland and the Seven Dwarfs in Fantasyland! Aside from the characters pictured below that we did see, there were more out, but we just didn't get chance to meet them all, however, they were nearly all the set location ones such as Rapunzel, Mickey, the Princesses, etc.
Of course, we walked around a lot, and took lots of photos. Here are some more of Disneyland Park before we move on to Walt Disney Studios Park.
At the Walt Disney Studios we were able to experience the new Ratatouille attraction two more times. As I said in my previous report on our first weekend, single rider is so easy and convenient. First thing on Sunday morning the line was automatically 160 minutes for the attraction, and we rode it single rider twice in less than half an hour!
We also saw the Incredibles Hit the Road again, and of course checked out the Stars 'n' Cars greeting. You already know my thoughts on the (lack of) organisation for this greeting, so we just hung back and took photos as they were arriving and leaving. We've met them all before, so we weren't too fussed - it's just nice to see some good characters out. As well as the ones picture below, Mary, Bert, a Penguin, Piglet and Jafar were at SnC this weekend, but we didn't get pictures of those.
No trip to DLP would be complete without attending the Sunday Brunch at Inventions! This week's theme was cinema.
We saw the Magical Moment at the Disneyland Hotel too. Just standard characters, although I was happy to see Mr Penguin since we had missed him at the Studios.
In my last report I mentioned the fact that there was a silhouette artist now at the Disneyland Hotel, something which I haven't seen at DLP in many years. Well, on this trip we decided to take the opportunity to have our silhouette portrait taken, and this is the result.
Once again we had a fabulous weekend, with lots of fun characters and experiences. Dining at Walt's again was nice, Inventions was fun as ever, and seeing such random characters out and about such as Friar Tuck and the Dwarfs definitely made us happy.
I'll leave you with some more shots from around the resort, below.
Have a great weekend everyone,
Dan.
