Hello everyone,
Last week Jon and I were in Walt Disney World again, where we checked out all the Frozen Summer Fun offerings, and celebrated the 4th of July.
I'll start with Animal Kingdom, since we only went there for a few short hours to get some updated character photos. We stopped by to meet Daisy Duck, Tarzan, Pocahontas, Chip 'n' Dale, Baloo and King Louie.
At Epcot we met Pluto, Mickey and Goofy in Future World, and Donald Duck, Winnie the Pooh and Tigger in World Showcase.
On Saturday 4th July, which is American Independence Day, Mickey and friends greeted guests at the American Adventure in their patriotic clothes. In attendance were Mickey, Goofy, Donald, Chip and Dale.
At the Magic Kingdom we met Mickey, Tiana and Naveen. I only took a photo of our Tsums with Mickey, but it's cute anyway!
We watched Disney Festival of Fantasy parade twice, and watched Move It! Shake It! Dance and Play It! Street Party once to see Stitch, Baloo and some other favourite characters of ours.
The Magic Kingdom was presenting its special 4th of July fireworks on both the 3rd and 4th, so we saw them on the 3rd, which meant on the 4th we could also see the special fireworks at Disney's Hollywood Studios (Hollywood Studios only had them on one night, which meant we had to see the Magic Kingdom's on the 3rd if we wanted to see both).
On the 4th of July some of the Disney Resort Hotels also featured characters in special patriotic clothes, so we went over to the Port Orleans Riverside and the Saratoga Springs. We managed to catch Mickey, Minnie and Pluto in various outfits.
While we're talking about 4th of July celebrations, I may as well continue to Hollywood Studios and show you their fireworks. I have to say, I had higher expectations for the Magic Kingdom ones, and I was a little disappointed. However, if I'm really honest, I didn't have as high expectations of the Hollywood Studios fireworks, and yet was completely amazed by them. Hollywood Studios also had the advantage of being no where near as crazy as Magic Kingdom, and leaving afterwards was significantly easier than leaving the Magic Kingdom after an event like that (the ferry and tram situation at Magic Kingdom does nothing to help the crowds at all).
Finally we come to Frozen Summer Fun at Hollywood Studios. The core offerings of Frozen Summer Fun are the Frozen Royal Welcome parade, Olaf's Summer Cool Down, the Coolest Summer Ever Dance Party and the Frozen Fireworks Spectacular. There are of course special treats available, and there are banners and photo locations set up in various places. The Frozen sing-along is lumped in with the Frozen Summer Fun offerings, but that has been a permanent fixture since last summer (it did just move location however). We watched and experienced everything, and while not amazing, there are some fun offerings to keep you entertained. During the (albeit very short) parade, it snows on Hollywood Boulevard and near the Hyperion Theatre, which is pretty neat. There are no special meet 'n' greet for Frozen Summer Fun (the dance party characters will not pose for photos, and they are virtually impossible to get close to through the crowds anyway, sadly).

During our trip we also, for the first time ever, played the two different mini golf courses that Walt Disney World have. Disney's Winter Summerland and Disney's Fantasia mini golf course are both a lot of fun. There were some nice details, and they provided (much needed) relief from the parks without having to leave the Disney environment. You get a discount if you play again at either course, too. I do have some photos, but they aren't edited yet. Once they are, I will add both attractions to the site, so be sure to look out for those.
In just a few weeks we will be at Disneyland Paris to experience their Frozen Summer, after which I'll of course make another trip report! In the meantime, we post daily on our Instagram, Facebook and Twitter pages, so be sure to follow us!
Have a great weekend everyone,
Dan. |
