Hello everyone,
Until the 10th of September you can enjoy the Summer of Heroes at Disney California Adventure park. We were there last week, and so I have prepared this special guide to every aspect of the Summer of Heroes for those of you visiting within the next two months.
Avengers Training Initiative
You can watch Hawkeye and Black Widow as they join forces with some new recruits (guests' kids) to defeat the evil Arnim Zola. Similar in concept to the Jedi Training Academy, this Marvel version of the interactive experience offers something a little more exciting for adults, with its more daring stunts.
Heroic Encounter with Hawkeye and Black Widow
Several times per day Hawkeye and Black Widow roll out on the Avengers Jeep (alternately, not at the same time), checking for suspicious happenings throughout Hollywood Land, before stopping for a meet and greet near Monsters Inc.
Guardians of the Galaxy: Awesome Dance Off!
Star-Lord is searching the galaxy for his boombox, and he just happens to find it in front of Taneleer Tivan's ("The Collector") newly landed fortress in Hollywood Land! Gamora joins him, but needs some help in finding the music inside her. Perhaps an unsuspecting guest will provide the encouragement she needs?...
Summer of Heroes Showcase
A video montage of some of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's most iconic moments. The lobby is also home to the movie costumes of Captain America, Black Widow, Thor and Hawkeye.
Hero Action Center
Find out which Avenger you are most like at the Hero Action Center! Answer a series of questions and be awarded with a special prize at the end.
Character Greetings
Aside from Black Widow and Hawkeye's greetings after their Jeep ride-around, you can line up without as much fanfare for Gamora, Groot, Captain America and Spider-Man.
Bifrosties
A clever play on words, this location sells frozen drinks, including the really awesome Spider Venom - I highly recommend it!
Cosmic Canteen
Alcoholic beverages with an out of this world twist!
Knowhere Eats
Space-age tacos and margaritas are available at this location that has been recycled from the Disney California Adventure Food and Wine Festival.
Studio Catering Co.
A truck that offers pitas, including two really good vegetarian falafel options. We tried both, and really enjoyed them.
Summer of Heroes Studio Store
A store that has had more identities than some of your favourite heroes, Studio Store is now selling Marvel related products.
Face Painting
It isn't often you get something cool for free, but for the Summer of Heroes, you can do just that! Get your face painted with a Marvel theme at select locations in Hollywood Land.
The Collector's Warehouse
Located within his mobile fortress that has landed in Hollywood Land, The Collector's Warehouse sells items that The Collector has decided he no longer needs in his collection. There are actually some really fun items for sale!
Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission: BREAKOUT!
Finally, we come to the brand new attraction that opened this summer in Hollywood Land, Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission: BREAKOUT! The attraction of course uses the same technology as the Hollywood Tower Hotel that proceeded it, but now with a Guardians of the Galaxy twist. Your mission is to help Rocket Racoon breakout his friends from The Collector's fortress.
I'll share some photos of the outside of the building first, and then I'll give a warning before proceeding inside, for those who have not experienced it yet and do not want to spoil the surprise.
