Hello everyone,
In part one of this report I shared with you our adventures at the Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, the resort hotels, Disney Springs and the Boardwalk. In this second and final part I am going to tell you about our time at Epcot and Hollywood Studios.
The week of our trip was also the last week of the Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival, which we try to see every year. While we always enjoy Flower and Garden, I do feel that over the years they have cut back more and more, and now there is very little new to see year on year, which is really unfortunate. At any rate, what they do have is pretty, and we like to walk around taking photos of all the topiaries, and occasionally sampling the different foods and drinks (while the number of topiaries has been reduced over the years, the festival seems to have taken on the role of "Food and Wine Festival 2.0", adding more and more food stands in place of the flowers!).
One of the few food items we did try this year was the "frushi" - a fruit "sushi" at the Japanese festival kiosk. It was pretty nice.
One other regular food item that we tried that we hadn't had before was a platter at the Tangerine Cafe in Morocco. It was pretty good and made for a more varied choice for us, being vegetarian.
As well as Flower and Garden photos, I of course did take a bunch of other shots, too.
No trip to any park would be complete without characters, and of course we met a good amount while at Epcot. The most exciting and most anticipated ones for me were Joy and Sadness from Inside Out. It took Disney so long to bring them to Walt Disney World, and I love that movie a lot, so we made them our first stop on our first day of our trip!
Over at Disney's Hollywood Studios we checked out the new Star Wars offerings, including the two mini shows at Center Stage, and the once-again revamped Jedi Training Academy.
We rarely ride Toy Story Mania, but this trip we decided to take a spin on it. I thought my score was pretty good, considering I am hopeless at these games usually (I'm the one on the left)!
Along similar lines to Joy and Sadness at Epcot, Olaf from Frozen had finally just been added to the park before our visit, and so of course we had to go meet him there.
Mickey and Minnie had also recently moved - again - and finally have new permanent locations on Commissary Lane. Disney actually did a really nice job of the interior, and it was smart to allow you meet both Mickey and Minnie with only one line, rather than making two separate areas.
Of course, we found some other characters out and about too.
Finally, we tried the latest Seasonal Dine at the Hollywood and Vine, which was swinging into spring. On previous trips we had done the Christmas and Hollywood meals, and so of course we had to see the spring one. Once again, it was a lot of fun and I love that WDW finally have something different that is on a rotating seasonal basis. We look forward to doing the Summer Dine next week!
That's it for our whole trip! In case you missed part one of my report, you can find it here. We also visited Universal Orlando during our trip, and you can read my report for that here.
Have a great day everyone,
Dan. |
