Hi all, As I had previously reported, Rapunzel is having her coronation in London on Saturday (further info in previous post - location etc), and will be joined by all the other Disney Princesses. There have been some neat press photos released this week of Rapunzel's trip to London before her big day. I couldn't find an official Disney source, but Stitch Kingdom reposted some here. Disneyland in California has said that they will be holding some exclusive new annual passholder events from mid-October, but sadly to begin with these will be by invite only. The first of these parties will include an exclusive evening showing of the Soundsational parade, showing off it's neat light effects not normally seen. Al Lutz has more details here, and there is more to the events than I have time to explain here, but if they are eventually opened up to other passholders, I can see that these will be a success (see Al's post as to my meaning about "if" here). Over in Disneyland Paris, the opening weekend of Halloween has had it's schedule posted online, much to my joy (I go for two days this Saturday for the opening). It is really good to see some decent times for the two new shows, and some good times for the Villains meets, Jack and Sally, and the Tremaines. Staying with Paris, and on the Magic Forum, user Poppy has posted some more info about the 20th anniversary Castle show, which I had speculated on previously. The character link here is that Mickey or Peter Pan may appear - but only one of them! Of course, nothing is confirmed yet. DLP have also announced that there will be an exclusive preview of the new Princess Pavilion for annual passholders (Dream only) on the 5th and 6th of October between 10am and 1pm. If you're there be sure to check it out and let us know what you think! Finally, our friend Drew posted on the WDWMagic Forum that on Saturday, for WDW's 40th anniversary, the cavalcade I had previously mentioned will be at 10am down Main Street USA, and will feature 60 characters. It will be followed by a speech by Meg Crofton, at CInderella Castle. Ok, that's all for now, Dan. |

Hi all, Yesterday the Disney Parks Twitter account very subtly announced that on October 1st - just 3 days away (and after much fan speculation) - there would be a character cavalcade, a sing along at the Castle and special merchandise "and more". This is the first and only time this has actually been announced in any official form, but finally ends the months of speculation that something might happen in the Magic Kingdom on that day. Sadly we can't be there, but will be watching the events unfold, and hope to bring you all the latest information when we have it.  [ Read More... ] |

Hi all, This week saw the official opening of Disney's Aulani resort in Hawaii. Mickey and Minnie were there in their Hawaiian finest of course, along with some of the top Disney executives. There are loads of posts on the Disney Parks Blog about it, so head over there to see one of the many videos and photos they have posted. Speaking of Hawaii and Disney Cruise Line announced that it will be offering a second LA to Hawaii cruise late next year. This presents a really amazing opportunity for those lucky enough to be able to do it - you could start your trip in Disneyland, then sail on a Disney Cruise to Hawaii, then finish your stay at the new Aulani resort! Imagine the character fun to be had on a trip like that!  [ Read More... ] |

Hi all, Let us begin today's news in California, where apparently the Pooh meet 'n' greet area is being removed. At the moment it is unclear as to whether there is a replacement in the works, or if the Pooh characters are being permanently evicted. I guess we'll see in a few weeks, but it is strange that they didn't work on this when the whole land (Critter Country) was completely closed for several months earlier this year! California doesn't really need any less characters, and the Pooh friends are especially popular, so let's hope they return in a fab new location soon!  [ Read More... ] |

Hi all, Just some small updates for you this evening. First off, over in California Halloween Season has gotten under way this weekend. Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald, Chip and Dale have all began appearing in their seasonal costumes on Main Street, and the Villains have returned to the Small World Mall area. Over in DCA Duffy has donned a special pumpkin hat and sweater and his meet 'n' greet area has been given a neat seasonal overlay. Loren should have a full photo update on the Character Central Forums by the end of the weekend, so look out for that one! Across the country in Florida, and just one minor change to the characters at Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party - Donald and Daisy have moved from the Adventureland Gazebo to near the Winnie the Pooh attraction in Fantasyland. I imagine this is due to the fact there is quite a high volume of characters in that one small area of Adventureland, and they needed spreading out more (others just in Adventureland include Tarzan, Jane and Terk, Rafiki, the Fairies, Aladdin, Jasmine and Genie, and Jack Sparrow; hence the need for the move).
You can check out the full 2011 MNSSHP Character line up here.
Over in Disneyland Paris the Princess Pavilion in Fantasyland is coming along really nicely, and is expected to officially open on October 8th. It will be the new permanent home of the Disney Princesses and is a new, extravagantly themed indoor location. It utilises the space formerly occupied by the Small World post show. Finally, staying in Paris, but in the Studios, Push the Talking Trash Can has made a random, but much welcomed return this week. He has been spotted out and about on a few occasions. We don't know if this is permanent yet, but we hope it is. Ok, that's all for now, Dan. |

Hi all, This week has been fairly quiet on the character news front, but there are now a few more details emerging about the upcoming Halloween Season across the parks. At Walt Disney World the Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party line up has been released and can be found on our forums here. There are no real surprises as rumours had been flying around for a while. Just confirmation really of some of those expected, including Jack Sparrow, Lotso and Gaston.  [ Read More... ] |

Hi all, We begin today's news with Halloween at Disneyland Paris. According to a friend of mine (who has many contacts), this year Disneyland Paris will not feature the Pumpkin People or the Halloween post/pre parade! I am not sure how accurate this is, because at very least the post/pre parade has always been a popular staple of the Halloween offerings at the park. I will be very surprised if they do actually go forward with this.  [ Read More... ] |

Hi all, We start the news this week with D23 over in California. Sadly, much to the fans disappointment there were no real major announcements but one thing did come out of the Parks talk, and that is that the Carnation Plaza Stage area of Main Street in Disneyland will be re-themed. It will in fact become part of Fantasyland and will take on the look of a small village complete with a Rapunzel Tower and a small stage for shows. No other real details yet, but it looked fairly sizeable considering the relatively small space up in that area. Interestingly the new area will be called Fantasy Faire. It will house the Disney Princesses, and is likely to replace the current, similarly named, Princess Fantasy Faire that already exists in Fantasyland. Hopefully PFF will be returned to it's former glory and house some neat shows once again.  [ Read More... ] |

Hi all, Sorry there haven't been many updates this week, but I have just been so busy.Let us begin in Florida, where last week saw Suzy and Perla make a surprise appearance in the courtyard area behind Cinderella Castle. Apart from the meal they host at the grossly overpriced and massively overbooked restaurant in the castle, Suzy and Perla are near impossible to find in the US. Over at Hollywood Studios Agent P (AKA Perry the Platypus) met fans this weekend alongside Phineas and Ferb. No word yet as to whether this will become a more regular thing - we only hope it will.  [ Read More... ] |

Hi all, As you know, yesterday was Disneyland's 56th Birthday. To celebrate the occasion at 2.30pm in Town Square they played Walt Disney's opening day speech, and a whole host of characters sprang from the backstage exits to fill the street with no less than 69 characters (that I could count!). Our friend Mr Daps was there, and has all the pictures and video from the special moment here. Hopefully some year we will go on the Birthday day itself and see a similar fantastical array of characters! I did hear that also a short while later throughout the park, some of the characters came out to greet their fans. I saw pictures of the Princesses and Princes who were out near the Castle. Anyone catch anyone else? Hit the Discuss button to go to the forum and let us know! Ok that's all for now, Dan :) |
