Hi all,
Today’s big news is of course the press conference over at
the Magic Kingdom regarding the Fantasyland expansion (amongst other things).
Besides a couple of new rides, and the new theming and areas
all of which sound really awesome, the character news to come out of this is
that the Snow White attraction will be closing in order to make way for a brand
new Princess meet ‘n’ greet “attraction”, to replace the Hall of Fame, which
closes in a couple of weeks’ time. Disney are compensating for the closure of
the Snow White attraction by of course adding a brand new Snow White themed
ride - the Mine Coaster, not to mention the new Ariel attraction! To put it
simply, they are getting rid of the Hall of Fame and the Scary Adventures, but in
their place getting an awesome new roller coaster and a new meet ‘n’ greet
area!
If any more character related details emerge from all of
this be assured that I’ll let you know here on the blog as soon as possible!
There was a lot of sites reposting the artwork of the new areas, but I have
chosen Mr DAPS’ page as he sets them out clearly. I have to say, it all looks
pretty amazing!
To some other less exciting news now, but still exciting all
the same. Over in Hong Kong Disneyland, there has been a test run of the new
parade, which actually debuts officially in a couple of days’ time. There were
a couple of videos floating around the Internet, but I chose this one for now to share with you all.
As you can see, there are some cool new floats, and the usual selection of
characters, including the Fab 5 and friends in some really neat outfits, Tinker
Bell, the Toy Story gang, Tigger, Eeyore and a few more. Jon and I haven’t yet
been to Hong Kong (it’s the only park of the eleven that we haven’t), and would
really love to see this parade but we’ll wait until the new lands and
attractions open there, too!
Finally to some really minor news, it was brought to my
attention that Pinocchio has been doing meets outside the Village Haus in
Fantasyland in the Magic Kingdom, and the Pooh characters are now appearing
once again up by the ride, despite the on-going expansion works.
