Today is Disney's Animal Kingdom's 13th Birthday, so join Character Central for a photographic tour of thirteen years of magic and adventure at Walt Disney World's fourth theme park.
Since it's opening in 1998 Animal Kingdom has seen many additions, including the opening of the Asia land, with the later addition of Expedition Everest in 2005. Some of the park's most popular attractions include the breathtaking Kilimanjaro Safaris, Dinosaur and the Kali River Rapids.
As we love characters, let us take a look at what character offerings the park has given us.

But Animal Kingdom is more than just a theme park, it also conducts research, conservation and protection projects, and provides a home for hundreds of endangered animals. It is a home and sanctuary for some beautiful animals including elephants, lions, tigers and an array of fish and birds.
We hope that Disney's Animal Kingdom continues to evolve and grow as one of Disney's most spectacular achievements, offering not just an escape from reality for Guests, but an escape from the cruel world for the endangered animals it protects, too.
