Today, Sunday 5th December 2010, would have been Walt Disney's 109th birthday. Not an impossible feat by today's standards (I know a lady who is 102).
But sadly Uncle Walt didn't stay with us that long, and left his legacy to his millions of fans world over to continue to enjoy "as long as there is imagination left in the world".
People often say things like "I wonder if Walt would have liked this?" or similar such statements. Fans often criticise the current state of the company, and some of the things that have been done in recent history. But we have to remember that ultimately Walt wanted one thing - for people to enjoy themselves.
Walt Disney was not a young man when he built Disneyland, in fact he was starting out in his theme park adventure when most people are considering retiring. Walt was young at heart, and just wanted to share his enthusiasm for all things magical with family, friends and fans across the world.
So when people say "would Walt have approved?", I think he probably would have. The five Resorts, Cruise Line, Stores and countless other offerings all aim to do one thing - to help make the magic real for people across the world.
And I think that is the best birthday gift of all for Walt. The knowledge that his legacy is felt across the globe, and not that one park might be better than another.
Happy Birthday Walt, here's to many more years of making dreams come true across the world.
From your biggest fans, Dan and Jon.

Tiana is the little girl who had dreamed of princes and fairytales from far off lands. Sadly she never thought she stood much chance, as her family were very poor. As she grew older Tiana worked tirelessly to make her late daddy's dream of opening his own restaurant, come true. Her life changes though when she is transformed into a frog along with the bankrupt but musical Prince Naveen.  [ Read More... ] |

Time to open our next digital door and see who is behind it today!
Today is the turn of Donald Duck, featured here in his holiday clothes at the Magic Kingdom's festive show, Celebrate the Season.
Celebrate the Season runs during select nights at Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, and in the day time during the week of Christmas itself.
The show features the Fab 5 and friends all singing along to some traditional holiday favourites, and are joined by some special characters along the way, including Santa's reindeer and Frosty the Snowman!
So, here we have it, today's advent image:

Hi all, So this week saw the first of four special character based mini-show events called “Magic Window”, at the Hotel Plaza Athénée in Paris, that I mentioned a little while ago. The event looks quite cute and will feature different characters each week.  [ Read More... ] |

Today is the 3rd December, which means it is just 22 days until the big day! We are opening our digital Disney Character Calendar once again, so let's see who is behind door number three!
Today is the turn of Stitch in his Santa finest. Debuting last year as the replacement for the popular (and missed) Twas the Night (which was behind yesterday's door) he stars in the Totally Tomorrowland Christmas at the Magic Kingdom, this is Christmas with a Tomorrowland twist.
Featuring alongside Stitch are Buzz Lightyear and Mike Wazokski, who together ring in the holidays with some futuristic takes on traditional carols. Stitch has the responsibility of being on Santa watch, but he accidentally blasts Santa from the skies, so, he appears in his red jacket in the end, ready to take on the festive role!
So, here he is in is red best - Santa Stitch!

Hi all, Today is the second of December, so time for another Christmas image from our digital advent calendar! Behind the door today is Chip and Dale. The cheeky chipmunks love Christmas time - you may remember from the classic Walt Disney cartoon 'Pluto's Christmas Tree' (1952), where they terrorised poor Pluto! In this picture they are starring in the now defunct Christmas show Mickey's Twas the Night Before Christmas at the former Galaxy Palace Theater in the Magic Kingdom. The show was a Holiday favourite at the Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Parties, and during the week of Christmas in normal park hours. Sadly when they pulled down the theater, the show was never relocated.
Check back tomorrow to see who will be behind door number three! Dan :) |

Hi all, I live just outside London, and we have this week gotten an unprecedented amount of snow. So much so that I am currently on my third day off from work, and it looks likely to be four tomorrow! So, if you’re snowed in like me, as many places in the UK and Europe are, why not take time to go through some of the great areas of our site?  [ Read More... ] |

Hi all,
So today is the 1st December, which means Christmas is well and truly on it’s way!
Each day for the next couple of weeks I will try to post an image of the day, that is of course Christmas and Characters related, as our “advent” calendar. I might not be able to finish it a few days before Christmas, as we’ll be on our trip and may not have Internet access - but I shall try - and we have nearly three weeks before that happens anyway.
Today’s image is of Minnie Mouse in the Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade at the Magic Kingdom in Florida.
During the Holiday Season, Guests can experience the magic and enchantment of a true fairytale Christmas at Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Parties held at the Magic Kingdom, held on select nights from November to a few days before Christmas itself. The parade is the main event of the night.
On Christmas week itself, the parade features daily for regular park Guests, and enables you to experience it in the warmer, and lighter daytime!
So, here is today’s advent image.

Hi all,
This is my final part of my Halloween trip report for Disneyland Paris.
Terrorific Night 2 at Walt Disney Studios Park was a first for pretty much everybody this year, including Disney themselves. Two years ago they ran a similar event (titled Terrorific Night), but it was (apparently) not as comprehensive as this years. More attractions were open and there were more performers out and about scaring the living daylights out of people, well, at least trying.  [ Read More... ] |
