Today is the 9th anniversary of the grand opening
the Walt Disney Studios Park at Disneyland Paris.
When the park opened on this day in 2002 at the then named
Disneyland Resort Paris, it featured just nine attractions, even though the
guide map would have you believe it was eleven! Even now they include Studio
One as an attraction (but then most Magic Kingdom parks usually include City
Hall… but that’s another story!), but the other attraction was not to be found.
Number nine was completely missing. A ploy perhaps to encourage people to think
there was more than there really was?  [ Read More... ] |

Hi all,
As you are all no doubt aware, this week’s news has been
dominated by the awful disaster that has unfolded across Japan.
Being a Disney Blog, I thought that I would update what I have
heard so far. The parks sustained some surface damage – cracked floors,
uprooted lamps etc., but nothing more serious. Nobody was reported to have any injuries
either.  [ Read More... ] |

Hi all,
This week I heard from a friend that Merlin made an
unprecedented appearance in Disneyland Park in Disneyland Paris. For the first
time in many years during regular hours (besides ticketed events), Merlin was found in the Castle Courtyard trying to find the
new King of England in the much pined for Sword in the Stone Ceremony!  [ Read More... ] |

Hi all,
This weekend saw the St David’s Welsh Festival hit
Disneyland Paris. This annual event usually comprises of Mickey and Minnie in
their traditional finest, a small pre-parade, fireworks and other entertainment
throughout the park. Our friends at Characters Photos Blog were there, and
their photos will soon be on their Facebook page. They have already uploaded
this video to their YouTube, so check it out!  [ Read More... ] |

Hi all,
As ever Jon and I have been working hard to improve the site
and its functionality, which means there have been some changes I need to point
out.
The much asked for, and much anticipated comments feature
for this blog is now up and running. At the end of each entry there is a link
that says Discuss this Blog Entry. If you click it, it will take you to a
pre-formatted version of this blog on the forum where you can post all your
replies.  [ Read More... ] |

Hi all,
So this week has been pretty quiet on the character front, but I do have a couple of things I want to mention.
Disneyland in California had some rare characters out this week for training. Check out the forum page here to see who our members reported seeing!  [ Read More... ] |

Hi all,
Those of you who follow us on Facebook will know that we have been in Disneyland Paris for the past five days, where we tried to make some posts from there “live” from the parks. For the first time we used the “check-in” feature on our Facebook page to update our followers of our activities, and also managed to upload two pictures of characters also – one of Rabbit and the other of Super Star Goofy. I have to say that it worked to some success, and we hope to provide more live updates in the future while we are in the parks.  [ Read More... ] |

Wandering through Adventureland yesterday a friend of ours appeared and informed us that a special Peter Pan happening would begin imminently. We had no idea why, or where. We hung around the Fantasyland-Adventureland breezeway and soon spotted two random pirates outside Pirates of the Caribbean. We then saw some other CM's with radios, wandering around. Something was going to happen, but what? Suddenly, and luckily as it was hard to see through the crowds, I spotted Smee weaving his way towards the pirate ship. We pursued him and found him, Hook and the two pirates from before taking a captured Wendy to the ship. They went down the steps to the pier area and we grabbed a spot overlooking them. They were roped off, and almost immediately the crowds were crushing into the small area by Skull Rock.  [ Read More... ] |

Hi all,
Monday was of course Valentine’s Day, and I had already posted about the scaled back events at DLP this year, and the surprise appearances by two princes in EPCOT at WDW, but over in California, there were more surprises!
In a welcome, but unusual move for the usually character-lacking resort, Disneyland put out Prince Eric, Prince Naveen, The Beast, Prince Charming and Prince Phillip on the special day, along with their princesses, of course. They appeared intermittently switching out in Princess Fantasy Faire in Fantasyland.  [ Read More... ] |

Hi all,
Yesterday was of course Valentine’s Day, which in the past at Disneyland Paris has meant some great random and rare character appearances, but sadly, not this year.
Our friends from Characters Photos Blog were there all day, and alas had no luck, except right at the end of the day when they went to the Santa Fe and there was some mini-show happening. Mickey and Minnie were there in their Valentine’s outfits from last year to provide the entertainment.  [ Read More... ] |
